Rice Pudding
Makes 6 to 8 servings.  Serve hot or cold.

1 quart milk
2 cups water
½ cup basmati rice
½ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla


In a heavy saucepan, bring the rice, milk and water
to a boil and simmer over low heat until it reaches a
smooth soft pudding-like consistency, about 25 or 30
minutes.  Stir frequently.

Add sugar, salt and raisins.  Simmer for another
minute.

Stir in vanilla and remove from heat.
